The deadline to apply online is April 1. You may apply in person any time before the 45-day appeal due date on your annual assessment notice to get the exemption for that year.
If you lack a valid Georgia ID or vehicle registration at the address, you must apply in person at 222 W. Oglethorpe Ave., Suite 113, Savannah. Floating homestead and school tax disability exemptions are also offered.

- You owned the home on January 1 of the tax year
- You actually live there and it is your legal residence for all purposes
- Owners away for health reasons are not denied the exemption
