The Tax Commissioner sets the deadline at the assessment appeal deadline, 45 days after Notices of Assessment are mailed (July 6 in 2026). The assessors' page still says April 1, so file early to be safe.

Homestead applications must be filed in person at the Tax Commissioner's Office. Low-income applicants must call 706-613-3120 for an appointment and bring their signed federal 1040. Re-apply if ownership changes, such as moving the home into a trust.
